We are a South African couple living in the UK since 2013 and beautiful North Wales since 2018. We began making biltong to satisfy our carnivorous cravings and longing for a taste of ‘home’. We are a small home-based business making exceptionally good biltong to order from the very best local produce including Halen Môn salt. All our biltong is made of 100% Welsh beef and every piece is hand-picked to optimize cut, flavor and texture. Our secret biltong spice mix include traditional South African flavors such as coriander, salt, pepper and other species.

Product Information

What is biltong? Biltong is a delicious, ready to eat, high protein meat snack that originated in Southern African countries like South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Zambia. Biltong is typically produced from 100% beef (though various types of meat including game can be used) that is marinated in a vinegar-based solution, covered in spices and slowly air-dried. Depending on the length of drying, the end product can be rare (often referred to as ‘wet’), medium or hard dry.

Not to be mistaken for jerky! In addition to the superior taste of Biltong, the ingredients, production process and end product is vastly different from jerky. Whilst Biltong requires top quality thick cuts of fillet, sirloin or steaks from topside or silverside, jerky is made of lean trimmed meat, cut into thin strips or minced meat. Jerky is also smoked, rack cooked and dehydrated to produce a much harder and dryer product.

Ingredients: 100% Welsh beef, Halen Môn salt and our secret vinegar-based marinade solution (including Worchester sauce - BARLEY, FISH) and spice mix.

Storage and Care: Your Biltong will arrive Ready-to-eat, packaged in a protective atmosphere to ensure maximum freshness and quality. Once opened please allow the Biltong to breathe for 10-20 minutes for maximum flavor. Store in a cool dry place and consume within 3 days of opening.
